09 Nov 2015

Gilport Lions head coach, Paradzayi Mandivenga, is optimistic that his boys will work hard to achieve the target of ending the beMobile Premiership season with 41 points.

In an interview, he explained that his target was achievable looking at the sterling performance his team displayed in the last four matches before they played Sankoyo Bush Bucks over the weekend.

Sankoyo defeated Gilport 2-1

Although he admitted that they started the season badly, he said their losses in the previous games were water under the bridge since they had set themselves a target.

Regarding their encounter with Ngurungu, he expressed happiness that his boys were beaten fairly although they tried their best to fight back.

He said the opponents were tactically better as they managed to score in the early minutes of the game.

However, the Maun-based Sankoyo continued with their impressive home momentum as they managed to score first in the ninth minute through a penalty which was brilliantly taken by Moris Ruzivo.

Gilport pilled pressure winning several free kicks but failed to convert.

It was on the 45th minute when they managed to equalise after capitalising on their opponents’ error and awarded a free kick which was taken by Kabelano Mooketsane.

Both teams made several substitutes ans as a result Sankoyo substitute striker, Thato Monowe scored the second goal in the 65 minute.

Ngurungu goalkeeper coach, Terrence Modikwe expressed happiness with the overall performance of his team.

He said although the visiting team had an upper hand in the first half, his game plan worked as they managed to collect the much needed three points.

He was hopeful that they would win the last two remaining games against Satmos and Gaborone United scheduled to be played before end of the first round. Ends
