08 Nov 2015

Township Rollers ladies team has ended Lobatse- based side Meat Girls winning streak by crushing them 3-0 in a Women’s Super league played at Mma-Masire Grounds on Saturday November 7.

Meat Girls had gone six games un-beaten, but Rollers did as they pleased against them during the encounter.

Popa ladies made their intensions of winning the game clear as early as the 19th minute after Masego Koboto received a good cross from Boitshoko Molaosi and did not shy away from putting it at the back of the net to give Popa the lead.

After beating FC Legends 4- 0 in their last encounter, one would have thought Meat Girls would continue with their good performance, but that was not the case as Rollers reduced them to spectators especially in the first half.

In the 36th minute of the game, Popa player Bame Ngenda capitalised on the Meat Girls defensive blunder and netted the second goal to make it 2-0.

As the Meat Girls were still trying to come to terms as to how Township Rollers was dismantling their solid defense, Ngenda scored the third goal hardly three minutes after the second goal to put her team in the driving seat before break.

The game went into  recess with the score-board reading 3-0,and after the break Meat Girls came back rejuvenated as they piled more pressure on their opponents and a minute after break Refilwe Tholakelo was unlucky after her attempt hit the wood work.

Meat Girls continued to move forward looking for a goal to reduce the deficit, and in the 67th minute Refilwe Matlho unleashed a thunder bolt which hit the bar, went back to play but Ivy Tsheko headed it wide.

Meat Girls, coach Isaac Simane told BOPA that they lost the game through their mistakes. He said his players did not use their scoring opportunities, as most of their attempts went wide or hit the bar.

Simane said he will work more on the striking force at training to sharpen their scoring abilities adding that all was not lost given that they still have second round to avenge.

His counterpart, Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang said her intention was to win all their games and defend their championship. She said their game play of neutralising her opponents’ dangerous players worked for them and the two quick goals before the break worked for her side as it caused uncertainty to the opposition.

Next week Meat Girls will host Makufa at New Look Primary School, while Rollers will battle it out with Prisons at Prisons Ground. In other games played on Saturday Makufa and South East Girls played to a one all draw, while in Kanye Swallows beat Big Sisters 1-0. Ends
