Meat Girls Rollers duel Saturday

04 Nov 2015

A fierce battle is expected at Mma-Masire grounds when Women’s Super League defending champions, Township Rollers face current log leaders, Meat Girls on Saturday (November 7).

Meat Girls have won all their six games and they have 18 points, while Rollers ladies have won five, lost one at the hands of Makufa.

They have 15 points and they are occupying position three. It remains to be seen if Popa will halt Meat Girls unbeaten run, or the Lobatse based side will succeed and  continue with their feat.

Last season Township Rollers humiliated Meat Girls 4-1 in the second round, therefore a lot is at stake in the encounter, scores to settle and bragging rights will be at play.

Both teams won their last game by scoring an avalanche of goals, Meat Girls beat FC Legends 4-0 while Rollers crushed South East Girls 5-0. However, Popa girls should approach the game with lot of caution given that Meat Girls are not at the summit of the log by fluke.

They have clinical players such as Refilwe Tholakelo, Refilwe Matlho and Chedza Katsibe who might show little respect to Rollers experienced goal minder Sedilame Boseja.

On the other side, Rollers have astute players who can cause havoc to Meat Girls on the day and they will have to deal with the deadly combination of Masego Koboto and Bame Ngenda which have over time proved to be a hard nut for opposition to handle.

Nevertheless, Meat Girls coach, Mmoloki Simane says his girls are ready for the meet, adding that preparations has been running smoothly.

He said they have nothing to worry about as the best team will prove itself on Saturday, and he is aware that Rollers have quality and experienced players.

“I am just waiting for Saturday, our aim is to continue with our unbeaten run, and I think Rollers can’t stop us, we have a mission, and we have a score to settle, last season they demeaned us, remember they beat us 4-1,” he said.

Rollers coach, Gaolethoo Nkutlwisang said they have planned well for the game despite having challenging of injuries.

She said Amogelang Moahi and Tlamelo Motlhale have sustained injuries in the encounter against Double Actions.

“But we have registered 30 players, we are ready to fight with the material that we have and we are going to fight to win the game,” she said.

Still on Saturday, Makufa will have a date with South East Girls at Mogoditshane Junior Secondary School, Big Sisters will travel to Kanye to battle it out with Kanye Swallows at Swallows Grounds.

On Sunday, Gaborone United will date Untouchable at Water Utilities Ground, FC Legends will face Prisons at Regent while UB Kicks and Double Action will use UB Stadium as their battle ground. All games start at 3:30 pm. Ends
