Tafic Ecco split points

22 Apr 2013

A Francistown derby between Ecco City Greens and Tafic Sporting Club played on Saturday ended in a goalless draw.

The fixture which was played before an impressive turnout failed to spin anticipated sparks for the last game season between the two sides.

Although it was fair result as both teams did not score a goal, it turned to be a great deal of disappointment for Ecco supporters who were eager for a win to keep their title race hopes alive.

The draw has dropped them a step down from position 4 to 5 despite being level on 44 points with BDF which is above them due to goal difference.

And as for Tafic which still remains a tough contender, the draw was an obstruction for them as they had hoped to continue with the winning momentum into the top 8 slot.

“Masemenyenga”boys located in the top 10 slot with 28 points had hoped to see themselves competing in the top 8 cup next season with a wish and new season resolution of making some capital to rescue their team from financial woes.

“The burden is on our hands to make it to the top 8 and change the distress we are facing,” stressed Tafic coach Dominic Changwe.

He nonetheless said his players played well but it was unfortunate that they did not score goals to get better results.

Meanwhile, the two teams’ coaches Atshele Molapi and Blessing Moyo who had disappointment written on their faces said as the league is nearing its end teams fighting for survival and those chasing the honours have it tough to win matches hence they are not shocked by the result.

“We want a win to remain at the top but at this point in time the league is very tough with everybody fighting with anything to remain in a better position,” said Molapi. ENDS
