Boiteko Trust boosts group businesses

28 Oct 2015

Boiteko Trust board secretary says the trust is committed to improving the lives of Batswana by helping with necessary platforms for their products. Mr Tseladikae Tseladikae revealed this in an interview at the market day that the trust hosted at Boiteko Junction mall in Serowe over the weekend.

He stated that the main objective of the market day was to provide an opportunity for the groups under Boiteko Trust to market and exhibit their products.

The day was intended to be a business to business interaction, as they had invited some stakeholders such as Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency, Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture and the Cancer Association to their opportune event, to appreciate their members’ creations as they were the financiers.

He further stated that although the event was a platform to give exposure to their group’s products, they also intended to reach out to the community.

Mr Tseladikae described the event as the one where community members would get an opportunity to be addressed in different aspects of life be it financial, social or even health-wise.

This he said was done by the aforementioned stakeholders who had graced the exhibition.

Mr Tseladikae stated that the event was the first of its kind in the history of Boiteko Trust, adding that they intend to host the event on the last two weekends of every month.

Some of the groups under the Boiteko Trust expressed their gratitude to be afforded such a platform as such will have positive outcomes on their businesses.

Mr Legae Khumalo of Exclusive Floral Nursery said they had been working with Boiteko Trust since 2010.

He added that the trust helped them with land, facilitation of workshops and even provided financial support for their nursery.

The entrepreneur said the market day was necessary as it offers free market and exposure, given the services they provide and the products that they had.

He added that through the market day, they networked, adding that since most of the micro- businesses did not have offices, it is through the market day that people would get to know where to find them.

Ms Oageletse Seokame of Smart Butter Investments also praised the market day for exposure to available market.

Smart Butter Investments is a Serowe- based producer and supplier of peanut butter and eggs.

She stated that most consumers that she interacted with were not aware of her product and she is confident to witness positive results.

The promising business-woman said they have met some retailers who have shown interest in their products, and said she is expecting to cut deals with some to supply them.  Ends
