Majombolo maintain winning streak

27 Oct 2015

Nico United maintained its home winning momentum  after a poor start in the beMOBILE Premiership  by beating Extension Gunners  3-1 at  Selebi  Phikwe Stadium.

Majombolo started the game in a high note to register their second win in a row after thrashing Gaborone United  4 -0 in their previous game. Nico United top man Christopher Musonda  was  a marvel  to watch in the first half as he was testing Mapantsola  goalkeeper's capabilities  with numerous  long  range shots.

Khumoetsile Kufigwa  scored Majombolo’s  first goal in the 27th minute after Gunners defence failed to close him.

Gunners  Pako Gaofose capitalised on Nico United’s defensive error to score the equalising goal in the 32th minute. Mapantsola  managed to absorb the pressure that was pilled by Majombolo in the first half  which  ended with one goal draw.

Nico United  opened the second half with Spencer Ngalande scoring their second  goal to put the game far away from the Peleng Giants.

Majombolo’s  hard working Gift Moyo and Christopher Musonda  continued to cross deadly balls which were giving Gunners defenders a hard time.

The Nico United middle field  continued to  supply their striking force with passes  until  Arnold Mampori  scored  Majombolo,s third and final  goal  in the  57th minute.

Nico United coach, Wesly Mondo  introduced Obakeng Gaanabeng for Kufigwa to protect his lead.

In a post match interview, Gunners coach, Daniel Nare claimed  fatigue as his players were playing  a tough game in midweek against Township Rollers.

Nare also said his players failed to close Nico United’s middlefield and that their confidence was low.

“Our plan went well and my players kept the winning momentum,” said Mondo.

"Even though we managed to win today's game, my team is not in a standard where I want it to be because  it is now going to be targeted by other teams just because my team regained its winning form and I  still  have got a lot  of  work to come up with new winning combinations,” said the Nico coach.
