The never say die attitude of Mr Modisakgosi Sebetso, 32, has seen him take the challenges of life head on and turn them into opportunities. Uninspiring Junior Certificate results in 2000 could not deter him either.

He instead forged ahead, worked for a number of companies specialising in electronics until a time when he felt he had gained a great deal of experience to set up his own company, situated in Goo-Lobeko ward in Kanye.

Today Mr Sebetso runs Modikose Electronics, a workshop of choice in Kanye which repairs among others; radio and television sets, computers and stoves.

Modikose Electronics success story does not only end with Mr Sebetso being able to butter his bread as the same effect has snowballed to the two employees.

“I am a proud employer of two people who use their salaries to feed their families,” he says.

His vision is to expand his workshop and has tendered a proposal to have the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture through Youth Development Fund bank roll him.

Like any other business, Modikose Electronic is faced with an array of challenges such as late payment by customers or in worst case scenario, customers not paying for services rendered to them and abandoning appliances for good.  

“This has eaten up the little space we had in my workshop and makes accommodation of more wares for repair an almost difficult task,” he told BOPA.

The other challenge, he lamented is the scarcity of some spares which are not easy to find locally; something he says has resulted in loss of business as majority of customers are impatient to put up with the situation. 

 To beat the market, Mr Sebetso and company has adopted same day repair strategy to repair and return an appliance the same day it is brought to be fixed.

He urges fellow youth to follow his example and not be overwhelmed by the fact that there are no jobs instead mull over the idea to start own businesses and create employment for others. Ends
