Police Commissioner calls for stringent measures

21 Apr 2013

Police Commissioner has implored senior officers to work hard to improve performance and implementation of development projects.

Mr Keabetswe Makgophe also appealed to senior officials at a management meeting recently to strategically use the meagre resources at their disposal in order to meet customers’ expectations.

He also implored them to influence their subordinates to do more and empower them with knowledge and skills so that they can contribute fully towards the success of the organisation.

On other issues, Mr Makgophe encouraged the police to strive to reduce offences in order to achieve the set targets during the 2013/14 plan period.

That, he said, was because even though they have managed to reduce crime in the past year, some offences, including murder, stocktheft, store breaking as well as rape continued to increase and remain a challenge.

The meeting was intended to review progress of the objectives and initiatives of the annual policing plan.

It also appreciated progress on special projects allocated to various officers. ENDS
