Police BDF V clash tonight
15 Oct 2015
Top of the table women’s basketball league clash between Police V and BDF V which will be played at the University of Botswana (UB) basketball courts at 8.30pm today (October 16) is expected to be a thriller. Police V are leading the log with 19 points having won nine of the 10 matches they have played so far this season.
Victory over their bitter rivals will edge coach James Kalebwe’s girls closer to retaining the league title.
Second placed BDF V, which have played one extra match, need victory to catch Police at the top. However, momentum is heavily in favour of Police going into the match. The Police team has dominated their encounters against BDF this season.
They trounced BDF 59-37 in their first round match in May and edged to a 60-48 victory during the second round in August.
Kalebwe’s team is also in a ruthless winning spree having won its previous nine matches in a row, including a 76-60 victory over third placed Dolphins in their last match.
However, it won’t be plain sailing for Police since BDF has also been in good form, winning their last four matches in a row. They trounced Dolphins 80-47 last week.
In other women’s matches, Ravens will take on UB Relics at UB basketball courts on Saturday at 2pm, while Police will face Relics on Sunday at 4pm. In the men’s division one, Spartans will play against Police on Saturday at UB basketball courts at 8pm, while Flames will host Dolphins in Francistown at 4pm. Ends
