Sankoyo Bush Bucks football club lrecntly received a cheque worth P20 000 from Safari Air.

Safari Air is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Chobe Holdings PTY LTD in Maun. Speaking during the occasion Safari Air finance director, Rodney Gerrard, said they started this donation last year and they intend to make it an annual event.

He however said the sum will depend on their company’s yearly returns.

Moreover, Gerrard said the move is part of their corporate responsibility and Sankoyo Bush Bucks is among entities that they support with such donations.

He said they were prompted to do this because Sankoyo joined the premier league last year and they have put the Ngami district in the map. Gerrard further said the team enhances the business sector in the region especially when they are hosting games.

“The teams coming here have to book lodges and hotels for their players and supporters thus enhancing the economy of Maun and the surroundings,” he said.

For his part, Sankoyo Bush Bucks chairperson, William Dikgosana, said they were grateful for the donation and they appreciated the effort made by Safari Air.

He explained that the money would go a long in helping the team with expenses such as travelling costs, explaining that travelling to Serowe for a premier league game alone costs an amount of P18000, for instance.

Dikgosana challenged other companies to assist his team in any way they can. He explained that the team depends on the gate takings to pay players and also in situations that they have camps, they use the money to pay for lodgings. Ends
