Positive mind-frame key

13 Oct 2015

Motswasele Junior Secondary School students have been advised to think positively in order to perform better academically.  Speaking at a prize giving ceremony recently,  the guest speaker, chairperson of Women in Business Association-Botswana, Ms Freda Senai, urged students to view failure positively.

“If we choose to view failure with negativity, we will always react with fear, uncertainty, and low confidence because of our unchallenged beliefs”, she said.

Ms Senai advised the students to be constructive in their mindset since a negative mind could be dangerous, and yet deadly poison at the same time.

Furthermore, she said internal dialogue played a critical role in determining how one viewed the world adding that despite the global challenges, students must adopt a positive and creative mind in order to make intelligent decisions.

She urged parents to embrace their children’s creative abilities since not every child was gifted academically, adding that the government through the Ministry of Youth, Sport and culture had full support of individual talents in arts, innovation and sports.

Meanwhile, the best overall students were Keneilwe Molebatsi (form one),  Jimmy Rannoba (form two) and Oratile Molatlhegi (form three).

However, school head-boy Dimpho Mosekiemang had to lead by example by emerging the best among all form three students, in Physical Education and Design and Technology subjects.

The students were awarded different prizes which included cooler-boxes, blankets, bags and chairs among others.  Oratile Molatlhegi who was the best overall student received a trophy among other prizes.

The sponsors of the event who pledged money, food and prizes were among others, Brandz Unlimited, Sani Care, Choppies Molepolole, Builders World as well as the previous Kweneng District Council Chairperson, Mr Motlhophi Leo.

In an interview, the school head-boy, Dimpho Mosekiemang, urged students who did not receive prizes to benchmark  from fellow students and teachers. He acknowledged everyone who took part towards making the event a success.

Meanwhile, the school did not just recognize students’ performances, but also their staff members. Eight teachers were awarded prizes amongst them Ms Poloko Mogalethe, an Art teacher was the best overall teacher who was also recognized by Botswana Art Fair Association for her outstanding work.
