Letlhakane councillor says, despite the magnificent natural environment, the village is dirty and pollution remains a growing concern. Councillor Boitshwarelo Mopedi said this during a clean-up campaign at the village which was initiated by Cleaning Wizard .
The cleaning campaign held under the theme, “The little things you do can change the world”, was an effort to clean the plagued village.
In his remarks the councilor commended the company for bringing people together to ensure that their village is clean.
“It is our responsibility as the residents of Letlhakane to keep the village clean and admirable,” he said.
He further told the residents that their contribution may seem to be insufficient but it could have a positive global impact.
He urged them to encourage their friends, neighbours and colleagues to understand the role that the community could play in protecting the environment.
For her part Cleaning Wizards Safety Health officer Gogontle Grace Botlhe cautioned the residents against littering and lamented that the trend was a health hazard to them and their animals adding that one of the remedies to this problem was to use rubbish bins.
“Vision 2016 can become a reality only if we all actively participate in its implementation hence I implore you all to put your hands together and clean our village,” she said.
The managing director for the company Mr Odirile Monare expressed his gratitude to Debswana for their noble gesture to ensure sure that the cleaning campaign was a success.
He continued to encourage residents not only to pick litter in their yards but also to see to it that they clean their sorrounding areas. Ends
