DRTS moves to improve service delivery
12 Oct 2015
Following constant outcry for the Department of Roads Transport and Safety to ease access to their services, the department took a bold effort to decentralise some of their basic services.
Speaking at a meeting held recently at Letlhakeng Police Station conference room, the station manager for Molepolole DRTS office Mr Alfred Paledi said they have decided to make their service available at Letlhakeng village to help ease the congestion his office has been experiencing.
Mr Paledi further said this will be done by having DRTS officers from Molepolole visit Letlhakeng on stipulated dates of the month and conduct some of the basic services such as theory testing and road testing.
He said these services will be offered in the village of Letlhakeng on stipulated dates so as to try and divert the on flow of costumers to their offices in Molepolole.
He admitted that most people seeking assistance at Molepolole are from Letlhakeng area, “ it must be noted that Letlhakeng is a big village and it is a Sub district as such people who visit our offices in Molepolole seeking assistance are not only from Letlhakeng but also from various places around Letlhakeng.
This is why we have decided to have regular visits to Letlhakeng village so as to serve our customers from Letlhakeng Sub- district,” he said.
He also said this will also help save people from the burden of having to pay transportation fees when going to Molepolole as they would from now on be served in Letlhakeng. Mr Paledi further said they would be conducting theory testing for class B licenses as well as other classes.
He said these theory testing would be conducted in two sessions whenever they are in Letlhakeng where they would have one session at 8am and another session in the afternoon. He said they are aiming to have at least 80 people writing theory test for every visit they have.
He also stated that their office would be providing free vehicle inspection so as to try and make their customers aware of their vehicle road worthiness. He said this was very important because it could be the difference between life and death as vehicles which were not safe could be fixed. Mr Paledi urged residents of Letlhakeng Sub- district to fully utilise their presence in their area and avoid having to unnecessarily visit the Molepolole office. Ends
