Association grooms professionals

The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) President, Mr Allan Ramsay, has advised the AAT graduates to encourage others to benefit from the support of AAT and Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).

Mr Ramsay said this at the annual Achievement Award, BICA graduation, where around 150 newly qualified vocational accountants were awarded certificates.

“I am delighted to be the president of a global organisation that is supporting the development of finance skills in Botswana and around the world. Whatever stage our careers are at, we must all continue to encourage those around us to embrace this journey and everything it can offer,” he said.

Mr Ramsay noted that AAT is the UK’s leading professional institution for vocational accountants and the organisation globally has 130 000 members.

“We celebrate the achievements of these students who have worked so hard, many of them working part-time while balancing family responsibilities and studies to realise their dream of getting this qualification,” he said.

BICA president, Mr Frederik Els, pleaded with the graduates to register with BICA as members.

“The profession you have embarked on will expose you to different organisations, operations, locations, industries, systems, products, people and management styles. Registering with us will ensure that you get all the support from the institute which will ensure that learning and development remain relevant to you at all stages of your careers and hence the public will also develop confidence in you,” he said.
