Defence matters are classified
18 Apr 2013
The release of information on the number of commandos who resigned from the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) will severely compromise national security and defence of Botswana.
Answering a question on behalf of the Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse, the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi said the questions asked were tantamount to research on security and defence matters, which by nature, are classified and not open for public consumption.
He therefore said he was not in a position to disclose the information.
MP for Francistown East, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi had asked the minister to state the number of commandos who resigned from the BDF in the last two years, and those who have registered their intention to resign from the army as well as those who resigned and are enlisted with the Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS).
