Addressing a kgotla meeting in Pelotelele recently, Mr Billy told the residents that the managing director of Clickwell Office Supplies, Mr Mallisetty Vijay Narasimha has pledged to donate P2 000 per month to the school for a period of two years.
Mr Billy urged the school’s Parents Teachers Association (PTA) and management not to misuse the funds. “In some instances, when a donation like this one comes forth, committee members start to become selfish and pay themselves allowances.” He noted.
On other issues, the MP informed the residents about the issues that were discussed at the previous session of parliament such as the Income Tax Amendment Bill, Whistle Blowing Bill and the Insurance, Industry Bill and the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources Bill, amongst others.
Monarch Court president, Kgosi Gunny Moses appealed to the residents to contribute towards the renovation of the burnt kgotla shelter.
Kgosi Moses said the residents of the ward continue to defy the regulations on brewing of traditional beer. Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) Water Works Superintendent, Mr Dithemo Jonas encouraged the residents to report all leaking pipes to the corporation.
He said although sometimes leaking pipes are not attended to immediately, residents should not despair.
Mr Jonas encouraged residents to desist from vandalising manholes by throwing items such as dead animals and blankets in them.
He explained that throwing foreign items in the manholes does not only disturb the flow of water but also has a potential of contaminating drinking water.
A Senior Administration and Research Officer at the MPs officer, Mr Sam Masunga appealed to the residents to utilize the constituency office regardless of their political affiliation.
On other issues, he informed the residents about the Confederation of African Football (CAF) game between Zebras and Eritrea on October 13.
He appealed to the residents to familiarise themselves with the match processes and desist from invading the pitch as a way of celebrating as this can attract fines for the country.
One of the residents, Mr Sebastian Shakwa pleaded with the police to ensure that they arrest the culprits who set the kgotla on shelter.
Mr Shakwa complained of lack of a skin specialist at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) and shortage of doctors in the clinics and also complained of indiscriminate disposal of used nappies by the residents.
Mr Johannes Thamagana called on the government to ensure the safety of whistle blowers because in some instances investigators can conceal the evidence leading to the whistle blowers being fined.
Mr Isaac Utlwang applauded the government for protecting natural resources, adding that previously only a few individuals benefited from them.
He said there is need to come up with an inventory of all plants in the country and their uses. In response, the coordinator of the Greater Francistown District Health Management Team (DHTM, Dr Gobazie Worku Solomon said the shortage of doctors at the clinics is worsened by resignations.
He explained that the establishment of doctors is 48 but currently there are 21 with only 12 in the Francistown catchment area.
Dr Solomon said as a result doctors are not based in clinics but they go around all the clinics on different days.
Francistown Town Clerk, Mr Lebuile Israel urged the residents to refrain from throwing used nappies in the rubbish bins but instead keep them in separate refuse bags until the days in which litter is collected by the refuse trucks. Ends
