LEA bulds entrepreneurship culture

The Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) Ramotswa branch manager, Ms Dulu Moaisi, says the organisation will strive to empower Batswana.
Speaking during LEA road show and market day in Lobatse on Friday September 25, Mrs Moaisi said LEA had been mandated to help cultivate the culture of entrepreneurship.
Mrs Moaisi said the Small Micro Medium Entreprenuers (SMMEs) were the engines of economic development. Therefore, she said LEA was open to service all sectors of the economy and had developed a three-year focus strategy to address growth of agriculture sub-sectors such as leather, horticulture, dairy and piggery.
She also noted that LEA conducted a research, which was aimed at identifying and assessing business opportunities in different regions across the country, with the view to give a competitive edge to each region.
Mrs Moaisi said opportunities in these regions had been identified and LEA was available to share with Botswana entrepreneurs. She said LEA provided a number of enterpreneuarial and development interventions that included mentorship, training, incubation facilitation of technology adoption and diffusion.
She it was up to entrepreneurs to be part of the bigger market through the use of innovation and technology. Earlier on Kgosi Pius Letsholo of Wood Hall appreciated that LEA was formed to help people start and grow their businesses.
Kgosi Letsholo expressed hope that through LEA, Batswana would grow their small businesses so that in future they could create employment for othes and also to reduce the poverty rate. The market day enabled entreprenuers to exhibiting their products and also share ideas. ENDS
