Botswana Softball Association and Botswana Fibre Network (BOFINet) on Wednesday (September 23) renewed their vows with a P4.5 million sponsorship deal for a three year period. This follows a partnership that was launched last year as BOFINet pumped P1 million to BSA which covered the running of the league, development programmes and upgrading of grounds.
The sponsorship deal will go a long way in ensuring that some of the league games are played under the newly illuminated National Diamond as the league kicks off on October 10.
Speaking at the sponsorship launch BOFINet Strategy and Business Development Executive Thato Jansen stated that their strategic partnership with BSA holds potential of taking sport to greater heights. He said following the commencement of the partnership last year they received positive feedback and also witnessed passion hence they considered to further their commitment.
“Sport moulds the young and adults, it also instills discipline and a culture of achievement amongst those who compete.”
Jansen stated that BOFINet appreciates high performance as sponsors adding that through their partnership with BSA they have been exposed to that.
He stated that the funds would once again focus on the league, sport development and infrastructure expansion.
He continued to state that sport is where role models are created and found which he said encourages athletes to become the best. Jansen said as BOFINet they intend to build this three year partnership and continue to contribute positively to sport in Botswana.
BSA president Tirelo Mukokomani expressed his gratitude to BOFINet for their continued support in sponsoring softball. He said this gesture would go a long way in ensuring that sport reaches greater heights and helping athletes realize their dreams by playing sport.
Mukokomani stated that ever since the commencement of their partnership with the sponsors they have worked well together and hence the sponsor finding it fit to extend the deal.
Meanwhile the Barloworld softball challenge would see the men teams from the Northern and Southern zone slug it out in Jwaneng over the Independence holidays. From the North are Carats, Rebels, Motlakase and Rail Giants while in the South are BDF, Vikings, Police and Panthers who would be joined by hosts Wells and Gatalamotho. Ends
