Letlhakane to get new primary school

23 Sep 2015

The days of students being taught under trees will soon be a thing of the past for Letlhakane Village as plans are currently underway to construct a new primary school in the village.

Earlier this year, Member of Parliament for Boteti East Mr Lelatisitswe Sethomo had complained that hundreds of students were sent back home as the existing primary schools had exceeded their admission capacity and could not absorb more students.

According to the Boteti Sub District Council Senior Assistant Council secretary Mr Christopher Maramba, the council has been allocated a plot for a new primary school and they were  currently seeking financial assistance and partners to begin work on building the new school.

He said this will be the sixth primary school in the village. “We currently have five primary schools in Letlhakane and they are not enough to cater for everyone as the population of the village has grown exponentially, there is a dire shortage of classrooms in our primary schools and we have decided that it is better to build a new school that increasing classes in the already existing schools” He said.

He said council has already held discussions with some members of the Letlhakane business community to explore funding opportunities and he would however like to appeal to all potential partners and investors anywhere in the country to come on board to assist with construction of the school. Ends
