Kanye Brigade Development Trust form five students donated food stuff and a blanket to a needy family in Mafhikana ward in Kanye over the weekend.
The Village Development Committee chairperson of Mafhikana ward, Ms Godiraone Mosoma told BOPA that the students came to them asking for their assistance in locating an underprivileged family they could donate the food to.
“We started working with these students at the beginning of this year and we identified the Leburu family in Mafhikana as the rightful beneficiaries, now we are pleased that the students accomplished their mission.”
Ms Mosoma said. One of the students, Ms Diteko Moletasaka said that their journey was not easy as they encountered a lot of obstacles but at the end of the day they managed to fulfill the promise to the Leburu family.
“It was a challenging project, and working as a group is not easy more especially that we are students we had to use a lot of effort to agree to a certain point, but they did not bring us down, we managed to raise money amounting to P1 500 to buy food and a blanket,” she said.
Ms Moletasaka said that they learned that it is the responsibility of the community to take care of each other instead of relying only on government.
Mr Keoagile Leburu who received the donation on behalf of the family expressed gratitude saying that he did not expect that from young people and that this shows that they were surely true leaders of tomorrow. Counsellor Kabelo Lemme of Marapalalo ward in Kanye also encouraged students to continue with the good gesture and transcend with the spirit of giving to tertiary institutions. Ends
