Leshibitse gets shelter

The Office of the President handed over a bus shelter built by Mr Payment Tshambani of Ndala & Boni Investments to the tune of P11 000 to Leshibitse community on Wednesday (September 16). Handing over the shelter, Press Secretary to the President, Mr Gobe Pitso said they were happy for the response by the company after the community made a plea to President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama during his visit to the village in April.
He said after the plea was made, they consulted with the office of the district commissioner in Kgatleng and other stakeholders to mobilise companies to assist the community.
Mr Pitso said during the mobilisation, Mr Tshambani came forth and agreed to build the shelter adding that he had been working closely with OP as he had already made some donations to them before.
He said the magnitude of the project might look small but its benefits would be felt during harsh weather. He thanked Mr Tshambani for extending a helping hand and answering the call by President Khama to help other Batswana.
Mr Tshambani said they were happy to be assisting other Batswana.
He said for Vision 2016 to be attainable, as a company they have a role to play in the realisation of vision pillars “as today we are showing compassion and love to this community”. He noted that they would continue assisting government and encouraged other companies to come on board and help communities and individuals to attain dignified lives.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi George Thwane of Artesia said they have been blessed to receive such a donation that would go a long way in helping the residents.
He said he was happy that Mr Tshambani’ s company took two weeks to build the shelter adding that it was delivered on time and on schedule.
Kgosi Thwane said if other companies could do same, there would be no complaints by government about delayed projects and additional expenditures. He further said he recognises the role played by the private sector to assist government achieve its goals.
He said the facility would be useful to the residents and asked them to take care of it to prevent vandalism and theft of materials. Kgosi Thwane asked residents especially women to be cautious of thieves and rapists and encouraged them to always walk accompanied by someone. Ends
