Molemele salutes Hukuntsi sub-council

Hukuntsi Sub-district, vice chairperson, Mr Judge Molemele has praised the sub-council for improving the welfare of the less privileged members of the society. Addressing a council session in Hukuntsi on Wednesday (September 16), Mr Molemele said a total of 2 741 beneficiaries were assisted with basic commodities such as food, clothing, bedding and toiletry.
Among those assisted, he said, were 671 destitute persons, 381 needy students, 348 orphans,18 needy children and 16 community home based care beneficiaries.
He said supplies were being provided as planned except for provision of bedding for needy children and orphans as preparation for their procurement was ongoing. Mr Molemele highlighted that beneficiaries had also been identified for the 22 houses allocated for the year 2015/16 and logistics for the projects’ commencement were on-going.
“Plot allocation for those identified housing beneficiaries without plots has also been accomplished except in Inalegolo, Maake and Phuduhudu where plot allocation is still pending,” he said.
Furthermore, he said the identification of builders for those houses have been done except for the two houses at Ngwatle where interviews builder’s interviews is on-going.
Hukuntsi Sub District continues to receive social responsibility gestures as the Roman Catholic Church is also in the process of building a house for an identified needy family in Hukuntsi, he said.
The Kgalagadi Land board in conjunction with the Ministry of Lands and Housing and Department of Buildings and Electrical Services employees were also constructing houses for less privileged persons in Tshane, he added.
Both houses, he said are at 18 per cent and 90 per cent completion respectively. The vice chairperson also commended the Sefalana group of companies for building and handing over a house to a needy person in Hukuntsi which was done in June 2015.
He applauded the compassionate gesture from the business community, faith based organisation and government institutions alike highlighting that the gesture is mostly welcomed towards the development of the Kgalagadi district and it is in line with the nation’s vision towards a caring and visionary nation by 2016.
With regards to the poverty eradication programme, Mr Molemele indicated that the programme has been allocated P485200 for technical training of beneficiaries for the 2015/16 financial year.
The first training,he said has been carried out in August, this year in Lehututu where 20 beneficiaries were trained on Business Management Skills and 60 more beneficiaries on sowing, baking food catering. He however alluded that transport continues to be a challenge in all government departments despite positive progress made in community development in the sub district. Ends
