GU hands Miscellaneous first loss

Gaborone United handed Miscellaneous their first loss of the season, courtesy of a header by Gaopatwe ‘Shoes’ Seosenyeng. The win ensured that Moyagoleele crawled up to position nine on the log standings, leapfrogging BR Highlanders and Nico United in the process.
Miscellaneous went into to the game with high morale as they had gone five games unbeaten, but they never displayed the character that earned them such a status as they were most of the time put on a back foot by the determined home team.
Despite being the better team, especially in the midfield, GU were not that impressive going in attack, and in a few instances they got the chance, they were kept at bay by the solid Miscellaneous defence. The game did not seem likely to produce any goals until the 58th minute when Seosenyeng rose above everybody else to nod home a header from a Hendrick Moyo pass.
In a post-match interview, the jubilant Gaborone United’s, Dragojlo Stanojlovic hailed his players for the all-important maximum points.
“Today we managed to collect the important three points and I am very happy. Miscellaneous was good but GU played a good game. Congratulations to my players.
They were disciplined and tactically good,” he said. Stanojloviv was holding fort as Rahman Gumbo was said to be held up by family commitments. His right hand man, Thabo Motang also indicated the importance of the three points, saying all along they have not been playing badly as a team, but just that goals failed to come.
“We knew all along that at some stage we will hit the right patch and the goals will come, and it was good doing that against a team in good form like Miscellaneous.
This will surely give our players the necessary morale going into the future,” he said.
For his part, Miscellaneous coach, Russia Rachaba said they knew all along coming into the game that they will be under pressure.
“We tried holding them with everything we had, but in the second half they came all out and got the goal. We expected our first loss to come at some point, and we do not regret the loss, especially against a big team like GU,” he said. Ends
