Bokamoso wins big at Coca-Cola awards

This year’s COPA Coca-Cola champions, Bokamoso Junior Secondary School (JSS) emerged the biggest winners at the COPA Coca-Cola awards that were held in Gaborone. The school staged an unbelievable comeback to beat Maoka JSS 5-4 in the COPA Coca Cola BISA 2015 under-15 boys football final.

COPA Coca-Cola is a grassroots youth football development that seeks to engage youth in active and healthy living whilst supporting the development of grassroots youth talent. 

The tournament is strictly open to male players aged 13 to 15, but in Botswana this has been extended to cover under 17 which falls under Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA).

The golden boot, an accolade awarded to a player with most goals in the tournament was awarded to Tshiamo Plaatje of Bokamoso with nine goals in the tournament. His team mate Kabo Seshabo walked away with player of the tournament award for showing character and regarded as the most influential player of the tournament.

It was surely a day to remember for Bokamoso JSS, as they went on to decorate their award cabinet. Paul Mizi scooped yet another award for the coach of the tournament. 

Mizi who is with the premiership side Gaborone United’s development emerged victorious ahead of the pack. MizI’s assistant, Tebogo Maotonyane topped the cherry by winning the best assistant coach of the tournament.

Masunga JSS came second to Bokamoso JSS, scooping two awards from the arbitrator’s roles. Trust Juwa and Denzel Fibion secured the awards of best referee and assistant referee of the tournament respectively.

During the event, respective sports reporters were awarded for their role in the tournament with regard to coverage. Botswana Press Agency (BOPA) came out with two awards. Anastacia Sibanda of BOPA, walked away with the COPA Coca-Cola best reporter of the tournament. Her work compatriot Gothusang Lesego led the pack to win the tournament’s best photographer both of them walking away P5 000 richer.

Best radio sports reporter was awarded to Yarona FM’s Kagiso Phatsimo, and Karabo Molosi winning best sport television presenter from E-Botswana also bagging P5 000.

Peo Porogo marketing manager for Coca-Cola brands Botswana announced the arrival of 18 under 17 boys who camped for five days for the international Africa camp training. The camp was held at state of the art of high performance centre in university of Pretoria. Ends
