LEA imparts business skills

In an endeavor to promote growth of the tourism industry and tourism business in the region, Local Enterprise Authority (LEA )held a workshop to disseminate information to its tourism clients in Kanye.
In an interview with BOPA the branch manager of LEA Kanye, Mr Kabo Ntebela said that they organised a workshop under several objectives, such as to facilitate and create linkages between the tourism business and the various stakeholders that support it such as travel agents, physical planning departments, tourism organization, licensing authorities, finances and media.
Furthermore he said the other objective of the workshop was to facilitate diversification of the economy as the region is predominantly drylands farming.
“We are exposing our clients to opportunities and information of the industry,” he added.
The physical planer for Southern District council, Mr Keatswetswe Ramolekwa explained that over the years tourism in the region has experienced a significant growth.
As a result, Mr Ramolekwa said locals have realised the need for tourist accommodation and there has since been an increased demand for the development of tourist related accommodation in the country.
Mr Ramolekwa therefore emphasised the need to revise the guidelines for tourist related accommodation.
“The reviewed guidelines will provide a common understanding on the various types of tourist related accommodation amongst the principal stakeholders in the hospitality industry,” he said.
Mr Kabo Moeng of the department of tourism also provided guidance and coaching on the process and legal procedures of starting different types of tourism businesses.
He said there are different types of accommodation establishments for tourists to inject money into the country.He added that these entailments differ according to the number of rooms available and the way the facility is furnished and built. Ends
