Parliament has been told that Mahalapye Sub-district was allocated five houses for destitute persons based on the Central District Council priorities.

Responding to a parliamentary question on Monday, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the sub-district’s priority was Mmaphashalala, Ngwapa, Dibete, Shoshong and Mosolotshane villages.

She said destitute housing for Tewane and Pallaroad was therefore deferred and would be considered along with other priorities in the coming financial years.

Shoshong MP, Mr Phillip Makgalemele had asked the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development why some houses, which were supposed to be built in Tewane for destitute persons were cancelled.

The minister also had to state the time frame for the correction of this anomaly.ENDS
