After serving a three year jail sentence at Kasane State Prison for theft, 30-year-old Mr Thapelo John is now on the straight and narrow. He said in an interview that despite the lengthy term, he never felt at home in prison.
Mr John, who now has a certificate in farming acquired in prison, is today a born again Christian with the Apostolic Church. He said he now has dreams to pursue. The young man survives through menial jobs, which include fencing ploughing fields and yards, carpentry, de-stumping fields and thatching huts.
He also repairs phones and radio sets. Mr John said he has successfully re-integrated into society and works for Ipelegeng. He said he keeps away from wayward individuals to stay on the straight and narrow. Ends
