New shopping complex for Ramotswa

07 Sep 2015

Residents of Ramotswa are zealously awaiting  development of a new shopping complex in their village. The owner of the company in charge of the project, Mr Tshepang Olivens addressed the villagers in the main kgotla recently

Mr Olivens said the 2.2 hectares shopping complex was going to be located in Magope near South East District Youth Empowerment Association (SEDYEA). He said the complex was going to have a maximum of 16 outlets including a filling station.

Mr Olivens said project assessment had been done and phase two would commence February-March 2016. He said should there be any delays, phase two should commence latest by June 2016.

He said his company, Jescoblo (Pty) Ltd, had drawn up a policy guideline to help residents get first priority of employment during the development and operation of the mall.

Mr Olivens said vacancies were going to be advertised at the kgotla to try and reach out to those that did not buy newspapers in support of employing more locals.

He also said they intended to build a sustainable and adaptable mall with shops of high prestige and that the mall had no place for bars and nightclubs.           With Mr Olivens was an environmental impact assessor Mr Kagiso Zachariah from RPM Landscape Architecture, Environmental and Development Planning.

Mr Zachariah explained that his job was to assess the impacts of the development of the complex on the bio physical and socio economy of the village.
He said different departments including Water Utilities and Waste Management and Pollution Control were going to be involved in this assessment to ensure that no harm was done to the environment.

He said use of separators for proper disposing of waste fuel was one of the vital things the complex should have to prevent pollution. Mr Zachariach said an archeologist was going to be present throughout the developments in case historical artifacts were found at the location. According to Mr Zachariah, the development stage of the project is estimated to employ 500 people. ENDS
