Constituency tournaments for residents only
06 Sep 2015
President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama has informed the youth of Mantshwabisi in the Letlhakeng Sub-district that ‘foreign players’ are not allowed to take part in constituency tournaments. Speaking at a kgotla meeting on recently, President Khama said teams should only use players from within the ward, while at the constituency level, only players from within the constituency were eligible to play.
He said otherwise players would be considered defaulters. President Khama was responding after youth enquired whether it was within competition guidelines to use players from outside the ward or constituency.
Meanwhile, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Slumber Tsogwane, informed residents that lack of accommodation challenges at the local school had been addressed through construction of five teachers’ quarters as well as one classroom block through backlog eradication programme.
Mr Tsogwane said teachers’ quarters were expected to be electrified soon before their official handover to the school.
The minister was responding to the Village Development Committee vice-chairman, Mr Samuel Jack who had pointed out that eight out of 20 teachers at the school had no accommodation, and that the school was running short of classrooms.
Mr Jack also complained that the nearby Matagatse settlement, which had been incorporated into Mantshwabisi as a ward, had no water connection. To that, Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) regional manager, Ms Boitumelo Kgaodi said they were aware of the situation at Matagatse, and that they were experiencing similar challenges at other newly declared settlements such as Ramaphatle.
