A balanced diet is vital as it helps improve the recovery rate of patients, says chief medical officer at Bobonong Primary Hospital, Dr Enock Mulomba.
Speaking during a donation ceremony where the sub-land board employees were donating vegetables to the hospital, Dr Mulomba said the gesture came at the right time as they would enrich patients’ diet and help them recover swiftly.
“Food, especially green vegetables, play a vital role in the healing of the body although our main objective is to assist with the prescription of medicine. If patients do not supplement them with the right diet it might take a long time for the body to adequately recover,” he said.
He thanked land board employees for having chosen to give back to them, stating that the donation was an important gesture as it would help revive the health of patients.
Mr Tiroyaone Morewakwena, the deputy sub land board secretary, was happy that the hospital had received the donation. He said they believe that the love and care for the community was important than any other thing.
“As the custodians of land, we have to ensure that our community is not left behind in whatever we do, and with this gift, we wanted to show appreciation to the Bobirwa community,” he said.
He stated that the vegetables came from their backyard garden they started to give back to the community. He added that the vegetables were given with love to nourish patients so that they may heal and become productive again. Mr Morewakwena further noted that they had in the past donated to other organisations such as the Bobonong Home Based Care Centre.
He stressed that the government has pleaded with all stakeholders to take part in the uplifting of the community, as she could not manage alone due to limited resources. Ends
