Company sponsors Mopipi prize giving

Weighty Equipment Repair and Maintenance Solutions (WERMS), a local company that specialises in heavy equipment and machinery repair and maintenance, is the main sponsor of the Mopipi Junior Secondary School prize giving ceremony. The ceremony will be held today (September 4). 

Mr Bakani Itan, the school head, has expressed delight at the gesture shown by the company to celebrate their students’ achievements. “We had no sponsors for this year’s event and we are delighted that WERMS decided to come to the party and help motivate our students. Karowe Boteti Mine has also promised to donate P3 500.”

He said the mine’s donation would go towards awards and prizes to top performing students in mathematics, sciences and English related subjects.

“This year’s prize giving ceremony promises to be the best.” He encouraged other companies, parents and stakeholders to play a role in education, adding that education was crucial for success.

The school head also revealed that there were about to close negotiations with WERMS to adopt the school in line with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development’s campaign. He said they were currently focused on improving the school’s performances. 

The school head praised his sports teams. “Our girls football team were crowned champions of the this year’s Coca Cola competitions during the zonal tournament. This led to one of our students, Kato Simane to be invited for the under 17 national selections trials, and  our drama team also performed well in the sub regional competitions, while the badminton and tennis teams reached the zonal championship finals,” he said.
