Moshupa hospital on cards
27 Aug 2015
Government has secured funds to construct a 70 bed hospital in Moshupa, starting this financial year, Vice President(VP) Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has said. Mr Masisi, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Moshupa/Manyana constituency told residents RECEy during a kgotla meeting he addressed in the village.
He said the project designs phase will be done this financial year while the construction stage will take off next year, which also happens to be the final year for the NDP10 period. Constrained by the economic recession in the recent past, Mr Masisi explained that government could only afford a 20 -bed clinic instead of a hospital as they had requested at the time, but has since sourced funds to go ahead with the bigger project.
He said the hospital will offer all the health services which are commensurate with its standard and challenged residents to find a suitable name for the facility.
Meanwhile, the VP shared with residents that coal, copper nickel and iron ore prices which have been tumbling down for a year now, have negatively affected the nation’s revenue streams. He said the development also compels government to tighten up the belt on expenditure. “We all pray that the situation doesn’t affect this project,”he said.
On other issues, Mr Masisi has challenged especially the poverty eradication programme implementers to fast track the initiative and avoid undue service delays.
He revealed that the programme’s budget for this financial year is P160 million. He urged residents whose Tswana chickens were acquired through the programme but have since died as a result of a recent epidemic, to get new quotations and submit to the nearest office for restocking.
Commenting, the residents applauded government for the health project adding it will curtail the distance they travel to seek medical attention. Ends
