Maun Administrative Authority councillors have been urged to step up and complete all spill over infrastructural projects and efficiently deliver programmes that improve people’s livelihoods.

Delivering a speech during the council meeting, he said it is time they took advantage of the make up and work as a team towards service delivery. He noted that they should not only be on course, but rather exceed their targets. In addition, he said teamwork is known to have made ordinary people attain extraordinary results hence “we can use it as a leverage to shine”.

Furthermore, Mr Letswee revealed that they all understand the common trials that stand on their way to do more in service delivery and urged them to be strong and do more in spite of any obstacles.

He briefed the house about some infrastructure developments such as roads in the district. He explained that the planned projects of resealing 2km on Road 16, shoulder repair of 3km on Maun internal roads and resealing of 2km on Makalamabedi Road had been delayed due to numerous complaints from bidders.

By way of progress, Mr Letswee said bidders have been invited to retender for the same works with an additional one project of paving of walkways in Maun mall. He said the implementation of the four projects is expected to begin in October this year, adding that the delay has wedged negatively on service delivery and hence the need to step up the implementation.

The house also learnt that the affected properties of residence along the Thito Cemetery Road have been assessed and Tawana Land board has submitted assessment report to the ministry of Lands for funds allocations.

Mr Letswee also explained that the in house roads maintenance crew which was in Bodibeng village for gravelling 2km road was pulled back from the site to Maun due to depleted funds, noting that the demobilisation left the project incomplete. The sub council is working tirelessly to facilitate means that would lead to the completion of the project and in the meantime, quotations have been floated for sand cushioning of Disanang roads, wet grading of Boseja, Disaneng, Boro and Sedie roads.

Regarding the maintenance of council facilities, the house learnt that the sub district is wrapping up the massive project on maintaining education facilities.

Mr Letswee pointed out that the exercise focused mainly on classrooms and left out essential components such as pupils’ toilets and teachers’ houses due to budgetary constraints. However, the council managed to maintain 40 staff houses and converting flush master systems for pupils’ toilets in Semboyo, Andrew Welio, Thito, Boyei Deaf Unit, Bonata, Matsaudi and Boseja primary schools. Ends
