Leaders should motivate workers

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Selebi Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) hosted the Northern Work Improvement Teams (WITs) Convention to motivate employees to improve public service delivery through innovation.

Delivering a keynote address at the event, divisional manager - corporate strategy, Mr Mark William, said the convention motivates employees and rewards those who post outstanding work.  

He said happy employees are innovative and advised that innovation should become part of the work culture. 

Motivational speaker, Mrs Mmapula Mmidi Phuduhudu, said studies on motivation have shown that leaders in the workplace determine their employees’ personality.

She urged leaders to get to know their workers and help them achieve their goals.

 She advised that leaders must be trustworthy and focused on making an impact if they are to motivate employees.

For his part, acting coordinator - strategy management Mr Jimmy Mackenzie said the convention must make have a lasting impact. He lauded district authorities for providing quality leadership. 

He encouraged leaders to motivate employees to come up with great projects. ENDS
