Teachers parents learners unity crucial

23 Aug 2015

The sales manager at Macmillan Botswana, Mr Letsweletse Matlhape has implored teachers at Tshekedi primary school to deliver quality education services despite the harsh conditions they work under.

Speaking during the excellence award ceremony organised by the school recently in Serowe, Mr Matlhape said it was through quality service delivery that makes someone to be recognised and appreciated in what they were doing.

As such, he urged the teachers to continue thriving for excellence.

Mr Matlhape said in a service industry like school, the results were intangible and thereby teachers were being judged by the outcome of the school performances.

He highlighted that in order for them to be recognised, they need to show total commitment.

He urged the school administration to instill hard work among everyone as well as examine quality to better suit the current times.

Mr Matlhape also encouraged active partnerships between students, teachers and parents as a whole.

He stressed that the parties play a critical role in the promotion of the mutual support on regular basis, as their interaction and sharing of ideas helps come up with solutions to the issues related to the education sector for the country.

“There is no how the school can academically perform to the best results without the active participation of parents, teachers and students,” he said.

Furthermore, Mr Matlhape encouraged the school management to develop a systematic structure, saying it would enhance the services given to the students, hence improving results due to the combination of teachers and students effort in improving systems of teaching.

He further congratulated Tshekedi primary school management for the excellence award ceremony, saying it was an abundant motivation, which would in the long run motivate teachers to perform an extra mile in achieving the school target.

Mr Matlhape said awarding employees for the job well done was a sign of recognition and appreciation of what they were doing, and also helps those lagging behind to thrive for success.

“As a way of striving for the quality service delivery, employee recognition has been identified as crucial.”

The school head, Ms Letshidile Kokoro said they saw it fit to organise the ceremony to recognise and appreciate the impressive work the teachers at Tshekedi primary school were doing.

She applauded them for having the interest of the students at heart, by trying by all means to nurture them for a better future.

Ms Kokoro stated that it was the commitment of the teachers, which was not easily broken which makes them to continuously excel and attain competitive results, despite working under unbearable conditions.

About 22 teachers received awards in different categories, which included best teachers with quantity and quality pass, best teacher in Primary School Leaving Examinations and overall best teacher.

One of the award recipient, Mr Oageng Oatweng who scooped the overall best teacher award commended the school management for showing appreciation in their good work, saying that alone would  encourage  them more.  Ends
