Inculcate entreprenership on children - official
23 Aug 2015
Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) Serowe branch manager says it is important to inculcate and nature a sense of entrepreneurship on children at a tender age to develop them into successful business people of tomorrow.
Speaking during the handover of 10 computers to Mothamo Junior Secondary School in Moiyabana recently, Ms Kgomotso Masunga said it was their responsibility to contribute to the education of children.
She encouraged Mothamo JSS students to work hard. Ms Masunga also pleaded with teachers to empower students so that they could be positive in what they do.
She also urged students to be persistent and embrace research.
The computers, she said, would help the school to produce high quality and competitive students.
For her part, the school’s computer awareness teacher, Ms Tshepo Leepile thanked LEA for their good gesture.
She said since the school opened in 2000, it has been using the same old unserviceable computers.
Ms Leepile said they had 20 computers, but that only seven were in use which made it difficult for them to teach 45 students per lesson and accommodate 990 students.
Another speaker, deputy head teacher, Ms Mercy Ndodala said the school was experiencing shortage of infrastructure ever since they moved from 12 to 24 streams.
As a result, the school was currently using the dining hall as a classroom for two classes, while three other classes were taught outside.
Giving a vote of thanks, the village councillor, Mr Orakanye Phirinyane thanked LEA for the donation, adding that computers would help students in their projects. Ends
