Nyangabye appeals for partnership

23 Aug 2015

Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) chief administration officer, Mr Kealotswe Keneetswe has lauded the media for the role it plays in informing the public.

Speaking at a media stakeholder meeting at the hospital recently, Mr Keenetswe urged the press to give feedback on their challenges, experiences and expectations with the hospital so as to create a mutually beneficial partnership.

He said they understood that the media has a public relations function and urged them to change their mindset and come up with articles that would benefit the country and attract investment.

He noted that media houses tend to focus more on negative issues.

He said media houses were their stakeholders as they help the Ministry of Health in delivering effective services to the public through publicity and education.

The senior public relations officer of the hospital, Ms Shirley Mukamambo said the objective of the meeting was to cascade their strategy to promote a sense of urgency on media relations and to understand the role of the media.

Some of the issues raised by the media were that the hospital’s authorities do not respond to questionnaires on time, which leads to speculative reports.

The meeting resolved that the hospital would organise an induction that would guide the media and hospital authorities on how to work together as it was evident that both do not understand each other’s professions and codes of conduct.  Ends
