Mahalapye Hotspurs gun for promotion

Mahalapye Hotspurs has declared its intention of winning promotion to the beMOBILE Premiership next season.

The Debswana First Division North League campaigners last tasted top flight football 20 years ago with a team consisting od players such as Chicha Sehunelo, Candy Tsheboeng, Darkie Ndubo, Masego Ntshingane, Sisco Sethunya and Bashin Thammano.

The team challenged for promotion last season, but faded helplessly with five matches remaining.Hotspurs recently appointed former Letlapeng and Tafic coach, Blessing Moyo and gave him the mandate to take the team to the premiership. He will be assisted by Tsheboeng.

The team’s manager, Ziba Tau explained in an interview that they would use young players this season. He said they would sign players in the 20-25 age group this transfer window.He said they have already signed three former BR Highlanders players being goalkeeper, Kago Mmopi, Kwado ‘Cheeseboy’ Kabelo and Omphile Motlhatlhobi.

He said the team was negotiating with several players among them their former midfielder, Zibochwa Molefe, who is currently with Palapye All Stars and former BR Highlanders striker Lucky Vundla, who is training with the team. They are also looking to sign two midfielders and a defender.

Tau said they have offloaded a number of senior players with only Tintos Raditsebe and Terrence Malebogo retained. 

The manager expressed confidence that his side would gain promotion because all the top teams in the Debswana First Division North League have equal strength. Ends
