Performance awards motivate recipients

20 Aug 2015

The relationship manager for First National Bank Botswana Mr Verily Tebele has urged Kgatleng Office of the District Commissioner’s employees to improve service excellence.

Speaking during the office’s excellence awards under the theme: Service Excellence: Inspiration for a competitive workforce, Mr Tebele said improved service excellence may increase economic competitiveness adding that a business with high service excellence would meet customer needs whilst remaining economically competitive.

He said the aim may be achieved by understanding and improving operational processes, identifying problems quickly and systematically and also establishing valid and reliable service performance measures.

Furthermore he said poor service delivery and work ethic as illustrated by the public outcry especially in line with the 10 point agenda items is one of the things that should be improved.

For her part the Acting District Commissioner Ms Bosa Lebotse said awards were intended to celebrate the success of the organisation and also to celebrate the success of the individual employees who provided exemplary customer service.

“This is an opportunity for the employees to appreciate themselves and also to appreciate the best practices. We do this by giving employees to nominate those they believe deserve the awards and the results are then analysed and the best nominee is awarded a prize,” she said.

Ms Lebotse said appreciation is a fundamental human need and that it confirms the employee’s work value and when their work is valued their satisfaction and productivity level rise.

She noted that employees were motivated to improve their good work and everyone has the need to feel appreciated as an individual or as a member of the team.

“My office believes individual employees should feel a sense of achievement for a work well done,” she said.

When giving the objectives of the day district development officer Ms Mpho Modiega said they want to recognise and reward employees and also to encourage and motivate them.

She said it is also to promote productivity and nurture talents in an effort to modernise and convert the public service delivery in the office.

All those who were awarded were given certificates and a P500 food voucher from Trade world. Ends
