Botswana Consumer Fair grows

The number of stalls registered at this year’s Botswana Consumer Fair has increased from 550 to 580.

Speaking during the 10th anniversary of the Consumer and Trade Fair press briefing in Gaborone this week, the chief executive officer of Fairgrounds Holdings, Mr Michael Montshiwa said the 580 stalls registered this year were in line with their annual growth forecast of three to five per cent. 

Mr Montshiwa said from all the 580 stalls, there were 450 exhibitors of which 23 were from 11 countries including South Africa, Egypt, Swaziland, Nigeria, Japan and India.

He said the judging of exhibits would be finalised on Wednesday, adding that the chief executive officer of Botswana Investment Trade Centre, Mr Letsebe Sejoe would deliver the keynote address. 

For her part, the chief judge, Ms Neo Maruapula also highlighted that the show has grown, adding that the quality of exhibits was satisfactory. 

“People have gone all out to do their best, so it is going to be confusing who is really going to win,” she said. 

One exhibitor, Mr Vincent Crosbie has brought the 4x4 challenge and motorbike stunts at the 4X4 Adventure Park where they used to host the Botswana Defence Force during the  Consumer Fair. 

He said they expect more local entries to partake in the competition scheduled for today to Sunday, adding that the new edition of the 4x4 endurance cross event would be held on Sunday (August 23). 

The fair commenced on Monday and will end on Sunday (August 23). Ends
