HIVAIDS remains incurable
12 Apr 2013
The Ministry of Health says HIV/AIDS remains incurable and there is still no vaccine against it.
A press release from the ministry states that they were alarmed by claims that some individuals had a cure for HIV/AIDS.
The release further reminded the public that government had put in place some interventions to prevent and manage HIV infections.
These interventions included the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), Safe Male Circumcision (SMC), provision of Anti-Retroviral Drugs (ARV) and prophylatic treatment for those who might accidentally be exposed to HIV.
It also reminded the public that HIV infection could be prevented by safe sex practices such as sticking to one partner, consistent use of condoms and general behavioural change. ENDS
