As the much anticipated 2015/16 Debswana First Division South season approaches Union Flamingo Santos Football Club is adamant that they will book themselves a ticket to the prestigious Be Mobile Premier League.
Speaking in an interview, the club’s team manager Mosupi Keatlaretse said all the preparations for the league were going accordingly.
“We started our preseason on the 30th of June and they have been going well,” he said.
He further revealed that to ensure continuity they have decided to retain their head coach Innocent ‘ Koti-Koti’ Ranku.
In addition Keatlaretse revealed that they have realised that their sinking performance at the start of the second stanza of the league last season cost them league promotion.
“We failed to continue our good run when the second round kicked off. We were also unlucky to have dropped crucial points against Mogoditshane Fighters,” added Keatlaretse.
Even though MA14 were eyeing promotion in the 2015/16 First Division South, they have lost some key players who went for greener pastures.
According to the club’s manager Bakang Moeng and Kabelano Mooketsane have joined Gilport Lions.
While Refentse Mmelesi left Santos for Digodi FC, Ringo Rankgomo departed to Tlokweng Naughty Boys and Goitseone Kusane returned to Gaborone United.
However Keatlaretse believes that the young upcoming players which the club have signed would be instrumental at the club.
On other issues, he bemoaned that they have not yet secured a home ground in Gabane but noted that all is not lost.
“We are in talks with one club in Gabane, in the meantime we will continue to use grounds in Gaborone as our home ground. People need to know that Santos is not only a club for Gabane but white city as well,” he said.
He further revealed that their hope as the club is to one day own a plot in Gabane where they could have their own ground. ENDS
