Hustler, a common street lingo meaning a person who tries to make ends meet, could be what defines the life of 27-year-old Mr Eugene Kobole of Tutume, who makes a living out of cutting hair.
Mr Kobole, who grew up as an orphan said he used to pass by one Mr Osiame Baikepi’s barber shop on his way home from school?
His hair-cutting skills pleased and caught his attention to an extent that he started to spend weekends there.
“Osiame realised that I have a passion for hair-cutting and took me under his wing and taught me the art.
I did not do well in my JC final examinations in 2005, and decided to open Mgara Hair Barber and depended on my magical hands,” said Mr Kobole.
The young man said currently he was working alone but employs casual barbers on peak days. He added that most of his customers were students and community members.
Mr Baikepi, who is Mr Kobole’s mentor, described him as warm, kind and an easy going person who listens to what customers want. ENDS
