Sembowa takes Galaxy to victory

17 Aug 2015

Jwaneng Galaxy on Friday earned their first points of the beMOBILE Premiership when they thrashed fellow debutants, Green Lovers 5-2 during an entertaining match played in the mining town.

Galaxy’s new catch, Tebogo Sembowa was the toast of the match with four goals to lead his side to a convincing win. The striker wrote his name across the hearts of the home fans after losing their opener to Police XI recently.

Lovers were the first to go on the offensive while Galaxy, which boasts experienced players such as Boitumelo Navara Mafoko, Musa Ohilwe and Kenanao Flo Kgetholetsile sat back waiting for the unsuspecting minnows to play into their hands.

However, Galaxy were the first to open the score sheet in the opening minutes, but Lovers, perhaps buoyed by their win against Nico United last week, equalised within a fraction of a minute through a header.

They continued searching for the lead, but always got the jitters in front of goal.  Coach Oris Radipotsane’s charges gave the visitors, who were full of the exuberance of youth and innocent expectations, but lacked experience, the bait and waited for a chance to pounce on a counter.

But like a lamb to the slaughter, Othusitse Kootswele’s boys went for the bait and exposed themselves for counter attacks hence got penalised.

Kootswele played a somewhat straight game while Radipotsane used his plucky wingers to take the game to his opponents and scored three goals before recess.
Reality had obviously not set in after the half-time break, and Kootswele threw all caution to the wind by introducing three substitutes at a go in an attempt to rejuvenate his search for goal.

And their efforts were rewarded with a spot kick after Moatlhodi Ralesotla was fouled in the box, but it was too little too late for them.

Onalenna Bullet Molelekwa immediately extended the lead to give his side a comfortable 5-2 win.

Nonetheless, Lovers played their hearts out and exhibited individual brilliance through the youthful and nimble Tumo Keiketlile who showed no respect to the experienced players.

In a post match interview, Kootswele said his boys were not psychologically prepared for the clash. However, he said the defeat will help them prepare seriously for the battles ahead.

Radipotsane on the other hand was happy to collect maximum points.

He said they aim to win all their home games and finish the season in a decent position on the log. ENDS
