Magosi prove supremacy

17 Aug 2015

Mochudi Centre Chiefs trounced Motlakase Power Dynamos 3-0 to claim a second successive victory on Sunday August 16 and a return to the top of the beMOBILE Premiership standings.

The match played at the National Stadium started at a low tempo with both sides missing scoring opportunities.

Kaelo Kgaswane unleashed a thunderbolt in the 14th minute, but Motlakase goalkeeper, Siamang Kgosipula rose to the occasion to deny Magosi what could have been an early goal.

Motlakase threatened in the 21st minute but Umar Ngobi failed to compose himself inside the box after doing all the dirty work, giving Mompoloki Sephekolo time to recover and save the ball.

In the 38th minute ‘Chouka-Chouka’ was awarded a free kick which was well taken by Thato Kebue, but Sephekolo managed to deal with it.

Chiefs suffered a setback when their midfield star, Lesego Galenamotlhale was pulled off due to injury and was replaced by Mpho Kgaswane.

Magosi played like defending champions in the second half, and with only one minute after the break Senatla ‘Ayanda’ Molefhe maneuvered through and placed the ball past Kgosipula to give Chiefs the lead.

As Motlakase players were still reeling, Molefhe set up Tendai Nyumasi to head in Magosi’s second goal.

Keaketswe ‘Mara’ Moloi scored a beauty to make it 3-0 in the 69th minute and put the game beyond Motlakase’s reach.

Chiefs’ coach, Mike Sithole said he was happy to have won their second game of the league.

He said in the first stanza of the game they struggled because their opponents were too defensive.

“I am happy that my boys are now gelling as a team. We are the defending champions, we know we are the team to beat, and all the games will be tough. Every team will want to beat us, but we will always be ready,” he said.

Motlakase coach, Agang Mogotsi said the score was not a true reflection of the game.

He said they lost the game in the second half because his players failed to provide cover when Chiefs tormented his goal keeper.
