Ecco Kazungula to kick start league

16 Aug 2015

Chairperson of the Debswana First Division North, Eatametse Olopeng, has informed teams that the league will be launched on September 5 with Kazungula Young Fighters hosting Ecco City Greens in Kazungula.

Addressing the northern first division teams on Saturday August 14, Olopeng said should the Zebras play Burkina Faso on the same date at the Francistown Stadium, the launch of the league and the matches will be postponed.

He further assured the teams that his committee would communicate with them after confirming if the game would be played in Frnacistown.

Olopeng appealed to the teams to cultivate the spirit of professionalism amongst themselves and support any team that would be promoted to the be Mobile Premiership.

He urged the teams to minimise unnecessary protests and desist from attracting suspensions that could have being avoided.

The chairperson urged the teams to comply with the new system of registering players electronically instead of manually.

On other issues, he updated the teams of the amendments of sections of the Botswana Football Association (BFA) constitution that were discussed at the recent annual general assembly.

He said the amendments were effected to ensure that Botswana was uniform with other FIFA affiliates and the proposed amendments had since been sent to the mother body for consideration.

Olopeng said after approval by FIFA, the new BFA constitution would be rolled to the structures around the country.

One of the changes in constitution, he said, was Article 12, which he said would include players unions, Botswana Primary School Sports Association (BOPSSA), Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA), Botswana Tertiary Students Sports Association (BOTESSA), social and recreational clubs and constituency teams to be BFA’s associated members.
