The Notwane Netball Club has encouraged its players to venture into business enterprises so that they can improve their livelihoods

The Gaborone-based netball giants hosted a business coaching clinic for the players in Gaborone on Wednesday, August 12 under the theme ‘find your enterprising spirit’.

The club invited different organisation that provide services related to starting businesses to inform players about their products and services.

These included Local Entrepreneurship Agency, Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency, and the Youth Development Fund .

Chairperson of the club, Neo Gwafila-Bulayani, said the initiative was intended to encourage young netball players to start their businesses.

She said their idea was to teach the young players what it takes to start a business, how business partnerships work, and what they could do to start businesses.

“The intention is to alleviate the challenge of unemployment on the youth. We have a lot of that in our netball,” she said.

Gwafila-Bulayani, a former player for Notwane and all the country’s national teams, is herself a shrewd business woman operating a catering business.

She said the club wanted to give players a one stop moment for them to exchange and acquire relevant information about what was needed in their preferred entrepreneur endeavours.

She explained that netball in this country is not yet professional; adding that such kind of business clinics will help develop young players to discover the importance of self-reliance.

She said it is only through business clinics that the youth could be encouraged to create businesses. ENDS
