Liberty BOMaid launch hospital cash back plan
13 Aug 2015
Liberty Life Botswana, in partnership with the Botswana Medical Aid Society (BOMaid), has officially unveiled a hospital cash back plan to cover members medical bills related to hospital stay.
Speaking at the product launch held in Gaborone recently, Liberty managing director Ms Lulu Rasebotsa said their purpose is to make a difference in people’s lives by making financial freedom possible.
She said the hospital cash back plan is designed to bridge the gap in terms of incidental expenses that are associated with loss of income such as groceries, school uniform and any shortfall in income.
She noted that according to Statistics Botswana’s annual report for 2013/2014, over 170 000 Batswana were hospitalised in 2013 with an average of 7 days in hospital. Of those admitted, over 6 000 passed away.
“It is on that basis that Liberty then developed a funeral plan with a top-up option to make sure that members of BOMaid are able to give loved ones a dignified funeral,” she said
Fund Administrator at SouthView, Dr Lorato Mangadi, added that the hospital cash back plan pays cash each time the beneficiary is in hospital and doubles the benefit for Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
She said that it requires a minimum stay of at least three days for payment to be made and seven days for less serious cases.
She said the partnership also includes products such as the funeral benefit plan that is underwritten by Liberty
Although it is not a new product, it has been enhanced with reasonable costs.
Dr Mangadi stressed that the benefit is imbedded within the medical aid cover of new members without any medical subscription.
The other benefit is the Premium Waiver, which will see registered dependents of a main member who has passed on being covered for 12 months after the death.
She added that the cover is paid directly by Liberty to BOMaid. ENDS
