Youth pleads for support

13 Aug 2015

A group of five young entrepreneurs funded by Youth Development Fund (YDF) in 2014 trading as WaysPay Company are pleading to local companies and organizations to support them by utilising their services.

In an interview recently, the General manager of WaysPay, Ms Dambi Mosetlho noted that companies and government entities are their main target.

“Some government schools come to our stall and request for quotations for embroidery of uniforms and never fulfil their promises.

This on its own is a setback to small businesses like ours,” said Ms Mosetlho.

She further said due to lack of clients, it is difficult to pay rent for their business, adding that the little that is earned goes to the rent and there will be nothing left for the company.

Moreover, Ms Mosetlho said lack of profits calls for them to operate at home but it is a challenge to do that as it will be far away to be located by potential customers.

They plan to showcase their services during the upcoming Maun International Expo and they believe it will be a great advantage to their company as different clients will be there.
She said their company embroils anything brought to their office and do screen printing also.

The young entrepreneurs use their different abilities to run the business. Ms Mosetlho has qualifications in business management while others are accountants and security managers.

Ms Mosetlho said she developed interest in embroidery after learning from a friend she worked with.

However, she urged teachers to spread the information to the parents to buy embroided uniforms for their kids as it helps in easy identification of where the student is schooling.

She further encouraged uniform knitters to liaise with them and cooperate in producing embroided uniforms in the market.

Ms Mosetlho also appealed to the youth to utilise government initiatives as it would help them to create employment for others as well as for themselves.

She said it takes time to get help but perseverance is the only factor that could help them achieve their dreams.

Ms Mosetlho’s dream is to have her own factory in which she could produce products and embroid them on a large scale and sell to local shops. ENDS
