11 Aug 2015
Xere Village Development Committee chairperson, Mr Timothy Kopano, has applauded government for extending poverty eradication programmes in the village.
Speaking during a recent kgotla meeting addressed by the Central District Council chairperson, Mr Peter Williams, he said they managed to build 25 LA2 houses and toilets for the destitute people in the village.
He said there were about 10 beneficiaries of goats and cattle in Xere while three young people were funded by Youth Development Fund.
He said the tannery in the village was being constructed, adding that it would benefit the residents upon completion.
“We have a co-operative that was constructed through Ipelegeng and the council is currently helping us on how to manage it,” he said.
Mr Williams implored residents to continue utilising the government programmes to uplift their standards of living. ENDS
